This week started with the IWEEK presentations. I was one of my group’s representatives (along with Gissela, Andrea, and Valentina) to showcase our wonderful and price-winning product. In practice time we went over the presentation, and honestly, I thought that we were going to lose. It was dull, boring, and really tedious. I was the one with most problems: my nerves controlled my emotions, I couldn’t vocalize appropriately, and I forgot most of my parts. After the practice round, a lot of constructive feedback was given from our teammates and we were able, with the direct help of Gissela, to build upon the critique and create a wonderful and entertaining presentation. It was truly incredible the improvement we could make in just 15 minutes.
When the moment to present came, I was really excited. I was confident, and looked forward on presenting. After watching the two other groups present, my confident rose. I knew beforehand that we were going to win. However, the price for me was not the recognition, but the satisfying feeling of being confident. While I was exposing, something new and amazing happened; I learned to use my nerves as a positive tool. I used them to give me energy, I managed them amazingly compared to the past times (where the words couldn’t come out of my mouth because of nerves). I am really proud of taking the risk to present, and if I have another opportunity to do so, I will definitely take it.
