During this week I have, probably, learned more than any other one in my life as a student. Typically, good learning has been associated with boosting the student’s self esteem. However, when my IBG group (Sebastian, Ciro and I) met with Fernando García, president of
This is not the only example of real-life learning (and exiting) experiences, in fact, there are many more- such as searching good cotton for hours in the dangerous and interesting Gamarra, as well as visiting La Fabrica and Cosas. It is incredible how being in Innovation Academy makes me better at analyzing problems, and putting aside intuitive thinking. Indeed, every day I leave class I have a deeper understanding, since my thinking is not leaned towards the concrete, but to the abstract. I think that when I analyze authentic scenarios, and my learning is problem-based, my ability to think critically and my entire mind develops.
Ink A Poster , to talk about our t-shirt business, he told us everything straight. His feedback was harsh, though intelligent, and absolutely rewarding… It was like a business lesson, yet an interactive one that taught us significant concepts. First of all, he told us the BRUTAL FACTS we were going to face, and how our expectations should be really low, since a t-shirt company usually makes a small profit. He said that the name “Ahúa” wasn’t really catchy or relatable for a Peruvian audience. Honestly, the first impression Fernando had on us was really bad, since we weren’t prepared for the meeting and thought that he was going to lead the conversation; obviously, he realized this. In that sense, the brutal critic given was real and eye-opening. Nevertheless, despite our lack of preparation and organization, he was flattered by our initiative and our desire to exploit our creativity at such a young age; he had never seen something like that before. In this regard, the president of Ink A Poster offered us free temporary assistance, in return of future help- “You owe me one”, said he.
